The reason the Precursors have him wearing that big ugly ring on his left ring finger in Uprising is to cover it up. Not just to hide that Newt’s been married from others, but also to hide the reminder from himself, so he can’t as easily remember why he was fighting them so hard.
Hi Newt’s code for the order to open all the breeches and stuff? Lima Victor. In nautical flag language Lima means “You should stop your vessel immediately” and Victor means “I require assistance”. Now either this is just random bullshit or the code for the name of the order the precursors programmed is a cry for help from the real Newt

Uprising, The Movie: largely embraces a narrative showing Newt as just some “ca-RAZY SCIENTIST” who turned evil because he was too much of a kaiju groupie and only has a couple bits aknowledging that what’s happened was beyond his control

Uprising, The Non-canon Novelization: Shows Newt thinking that he’s building drones to save pilots and is completely unaware of himself sabatoging his own project. Is isolated all of the time. Knows there’s something wrong with his head but can’t place what and is confused and conflicted as he’s twisted into the worst version of himself while often not knowing why he does what he’s doing/saying. Feels unstable and is confirmed to drink heavily, likely as a self medication method to deal with confusing thoughts. Actually slightly changes dialogue and scenes to make it clear that Newt is under the influence of things beyond his control and is a tragic victim
