Aesthetic: Newt/Hermann + Freeing Newt from the Precursors

A moodboard for the first few chapters of my new Pacific Rim fic Only Human (After All), which follows the process of freeing Newt from Precursor control, Hermann badgering a variety of governmental officials into not giving up on Newt, and the new co-Marshalls Jake and Nate trying to keep their remaining scientist sane while they save a man’s soul and plan a war.

Apologies. New Phone. Who is this?

Or: the pettiest thing the Precursors ever did.

Because.

You know.

There was a long pause. As though Newton was genuinely expecting him to “know” something. Hermann’s allotted dinner time was nearly up and he was getting impatient with this little runaround.

                                                    I really don’t.

The response came almost instantaneously:

I miss you.

A year after his departure, Hermann receives a text message from Newton for seemingly no reason. A dumb little drabble based on this ask from @sarah1281

as well as a nicotine patch on his other arm:

i just love how fully realized all of the characters are in this film, even the ones we only get a glimpse of.

Today in Middle-Earth: Bilbo descends to Smaug’s Cellar, steal a cup and returns. (October 30th, 2941 T.A.)

“Now you are in for it at last, Bilbo Baggins,” he said to himself. “You went and put your foot right in it that night of the party, and now you have got to pull it out and pay for it! Dear me, what a fool I was and am!” said the least Tookish part of him. “I have absolutely no use for dragon-guarded treasures, and the whole lot could stay here for ever, if only I could wake up and find this beastly tunnel was my own front-hall at home!”

He did not wake up of course, but went still on and on, till all sign of the door behind had faded away. He was altogether alone. Soon he thought it was beginning to feel warm. “Is that a kind of a glow I seem to see coming right ahead down there?” he thought.
