Aesthetic: Newt/Hermann + Freeing Newt from the Precursors
A moodboard for the first few chapters of my new Pacific Rim fic Only Human (After All), which follows the process of freeing Newt from Precursor control, Hermann badgering a variety of governmental officials into not giving up on Newt, and the new co-Marshalls Jake and Nate trying to keep their remaining scientist sane while they save a man’s soul and plan a war.
Newt: so lay it on me, do you like boys or girls or other or none or all or
Vik: I like winning.
Newt: And you are so valid but I’m trying to plan your wedding here, so if you could meet me half way
Vik: I am married to the job and I want dogs.
Newt: You’re unemployed, still valid, but also still very unemployed, so okay here I’ll go first
Newt: My wedding is going to be a three day concert venue and at the very end of my guitar solo I’ll have this amazing speech written about how I actually eloped like a half hour prior and the crowd will cheer and I’ll dip kiss my husband as fireworks light off on stage.
Vik: I am not unemployed, I am a cadet.
Newt: Right, kiddo, just an f to the y.i., that’s basically a shiny word for intern.
Hermann: Newton we are in no position to be offering romantic guidance.

also i love the dichotomy between how newt and hermann view their relationship vs how LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE ON EARTH does. hermanns like ugh just because i share a lab with the man doesn’t mean we’re working TOGETHER if anything i’m trying to prove him WRONG!!! meanwhile times is publishing about the Duo, the Partnership, the Inseparable Set of scientists who are working CLOSELY to save the world. newts like raleigh you don’t understand you stupid ASSHOLE i’m spending all my time with hermann and following him around and sleeping next to him because we’re ARGUING…….. OBVIOUSLY
