I have officially sent Occam’s Razor out to a professional Copy-editor for a first read through you guys.
Once I get it back I’ll be going through it myself chapter per chapter with a new style guide I’ve been putting together to make sure everything is consistent. Once thats done I’ll find someone to help me format the thing for print and look into a kickstarter for self-publishing costs. Let’s see how this goes!
Of all the universes they could have had, this was theirs: A Newton Geiszler shaped thing trussed up in a cell, and Hermann Gottlieb desperate and unable to give up hope. . To save Newton’s life, Hermann is driven to tinker with the very handwriting of god.
Now updated with Chapter 7: Ray is back on the Waverider, so finally some of the comfort part of the hurt/comfort. This story follows thematically from the two earlier stories in the series, “Nice and Weird” and “To Feel the Way That Every Child Should”–and those have plenty more comfort as well.
“That I did,” said Newt. “That I did. You didn’t have a Facebook, so I had no idea what you looked like. You know what I was picturing? Some dude in a leather jacket who didn’t cut his hair himself. You sounded way cooler in writing.”
“A leather jacket,” spluttered Hermann. The back of his neck felt very hot, and Newt’s fingers laced with his own helped little.
“Oh, yeah. Leather jacket, combat boots… I imagined us going out to a bar, and then some guy tries to pick a fight with me, but then you step in and suplex him into the bar with the power of math. And also your muscles.”
At 5.5k this chapter is slightly shorter than usual, but we are out of the thick of the Nightmare Action at last! Time for Hermann and Newt to recover and have a little chat about feelings. I’m excited about this chapter, but then again, I’m very excited about everything from here on out!
Refusing to drink the champagne, in a library that’s a bit too quiet, chatting with geniuses, Newt muses about the complicated love that he knows full well saved him.
A companion piece to my Alice story as requested by @avelera
As the precursors’ hold on Newt’s mind grows, they crash Newt’s evening with Hermann to see whether he will be able to spot the difference. Newt can only watch his boyfriend and his body interact, knowing this test cannot possibly end in a way that won’t hurt a whole lot. Pre-Uprising.
