Sometimes, I really like miss Joe Miller, Sad Disaster Man, the guy who found it in himself to give his life for something when he was so damn positive that he had nothing more of himself to give the world.
Cara Gee is a Canadian actress of Ojibwe descent. She currently plays Drummer, head of security at Tycho Station and Fred Johnson’s second in command on SyFy’s series “The Expanse” – which is itself an adaptation of the amazing James S.A. If you’re not watching it/reading it – you are missing out big time. It is an amazing series, whether in book or television form.
Last night, there was a post-show podcast on which Cara Gee was a guest star.
Question: We were talking earlier about the representation on the show, particularly on the female cast – how it’s a very diverse group of women. Is that something you’re particularly proud of about the show?
Cara Gee: Yes! Yes! It’s the future. It’s so brilliant. You know, I have auditioned for shows in the past and there was one in particular where I got very close on a role and I didn’t get it and the note that my agent got was that they ‘already had a half-Asian person on the show’ and so I didn’t get the part … and what the actual fuck? Of course there were so many white people on the show … and of course that didn’t seem to be a problem. There is this idea that we have to have “one of each and only one and they stand in for all” … That’s bullshit … that doesn’t happen on [The Expanse] and I’m so proud to be a part of that. It’s amazing.
Some character studies on part of the cast of the amazing The Expanse.
They have a very diverse and interesting cast which is not only great to
watch but also to make studies on!
